Lara Milford is the Executive Assistant at SOUNDS Academy where she works with diverse families and volunteers. She manages logistical tasks and assists with registration and events. Lara is passionate about serving others, using her experiences working with refugees, homeless families, trafficked women and English language learners to benefit SOUNDS Academy. Lara made it her goal to learn about other communities and cultures when she traveled to many African and Central American countries. As a fourth generation teacher, it has been her personal goal to work with a local nonprofit that benefits the well-being of underserved students who are underserved in Phoenix.
Lara has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education as well as multiple teaching certificates. She has worked as an educator in charter schools in Phoenix for over 12 years. In her last year, before coming aboard the SOUNDS Academy team, she was an Assistant Headmaster at Great Hearts.
Lara is a lifelong learner. She enjoys reading great works of literature, such as her favorite book, East of Eden by John Steinbeck. She also enjoys listening to music while creating mixed media art.
