Teaching Artist (Violin, Viola)

Brooke Mickelson is a passionate violist, social entrepreneur, and music educator who strives to build community through the arts and create access to music education. As founder and creator of the Subsidized Music Lesson Program at Boise State University, she helped empower 21 low-income students to participate in 200+ affordable music lessons in 3 years. Ms. Mickelson now serves over 100 students as an Administrative Assistant for the Arizona State University String Project and Teacher for SOUNDS Academy. Additionally, she fosters an inclusive community for violists and violinists in her Private Music Studio. A talented violist, Ms. Mickelson placed in the finals for the 2019 Boise State University Concerto-Aria competition. She has attended many prestigious summer music festivals, most notably the Brevard Music Center. She performs in school and community orchestras and chamber ensembles. Ms. Mickelson is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Viola Performance (Performance Pedagogy) at Arizona State University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Nancy Buck. She holds a Bachelor of Music Performance with Honors from Boise State University, where she studied with Dr. Linda Kline.
