Kate Bittner

SOUNDS Academy College Advisor

Kate started playing the violin in the fourth grade and holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Violin Performance at Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin (2012). While at Lawrence, she developed a great love for world music and music traditions from many different cultures. She studied the tradition of Balinese Gamelan very intensely with a master musician from Bali. She loves to travel and hopes to make it to the Bali Arts festival one day. Kate also collects musical instruments–some of her favorites are her banjo, kalimbas, ukulele, and her grandmother’s antique accordion.

Over the course of her career, Kate has spent time working with many different music organizations, including the Aspen Music Festival and The Phoenix Symphony! All of her experiences led her back to her alma mater as the Director of Conservatory Admissions, where she would recruit and work with students interested in studying music in college. There, she traveled around the country to meet students in their cities; networked in the Music Admissions Roundtable organization, made up of music admissions professionals from universities around the country; facilitated numerous audition days and admissions events; and enrolled large classes to the conservatory of music. She aspires to continue this work on an individual level, working with students in Arizona to navigate the college application and audition process.

Kate moved back to Arizona in the fall of 2021 with her husband and two cats, Kiwi and Rajea, and currently works as a floral designer. She recently discovered the SOUNDS Academy and is extremely excited to assist the students in college preparation!
