Bring Musicians or An Instrument Petting Zoo To Your School & Community
THE MUSICAL ACCESS PROGRAM
The Musical Access Program exposes children to musical experiences through live performances and Instrument Petting Zoos. Through this program, children are inspired to explore music and play instruments.
SOUNDS Academy brings performers and music professionals to schools. Beyond students experiencing a live performance, musicians share their stories and speak about the importance of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, teamwork, and higher education.
LIVE MUSIC
In working with schools and SOUNDS Academy students a pre-concert class is taught to prepare students for the Musical Access Session. During this class, students receive information on the history of the performer(s), concert etiquette, and appropriate question-asking techniques. Upon arrival to the performance venue, students are asked to write three questions on an index card. After the performance, students ask their questions and write the answers on their index cards. To conclude, students write about what they learned.
INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOO
In an Instrument Petting Zoo, SOUNDS Academy brings instruments to schools and community centers so that children can try instruments. SOUNDS Academy students and volunteers help participants to try instruments such as the violin, viola, cello, piano, guitar, recorder, trumpet and more!
