Saxophonist Matthew Fox is an avid performer, educator, and administrator from New York who currently resides in the Phoenix, AZ area. Having shared the stage with performers such as Sean Jones, Roxy Coss, Robert Young, and others, Fox has performed with musicians of the highest level. Music education is a passion for Fox, and he is thrilled to join SOUNDS Academy in 2024 as the Program Manager.

As a chamber musician, Fox has earned awards at the Coltman, North American Saxophone Alliance, New Orleans Chamber Festival, and Music Teachers National Association chamber competitions, as well as earning a silver medal at the nation’s largest chamber music competition, Fischoff. He is currently the soprano player in a saxophone quartet entitled Sound Session. An active solo artist, Fox has competed and earned awards in competitions such as the Music Teachers National Association, North American Saxophone Alliance, Vandoren Emerging Artist, and Saxiana International Solo Competitions.

Fox holds a Master of Music and a Graduate Certificate from Michigan State University, studying as a University Distinguished Fellow, under the direction of Professor Joseph Lulloff. Additionally, Fox holds his Bachelor’s in Music from Arizona State University under the direction of Dr. Christopher Creviston. A well-rounded and hard-working individual showcases the character values of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, and teamwork. Through music education, and with the help of the SOUNDS Academy community, we can work together to bring these values to anyone who seeks them!
