Development Manager

Students receive individual lessons, group classes, and perform on string and woodwind instruments, guitar, and piano. Instruments are provided to those who cannot afford one. In SOUNDS Academy students learn the character values of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, and teamwork through music education. We teach these values in our Musical Access Program, which connects students to live music and instruments through our Instrument Petting Zoos, our School Programs for lower income schools and community centers, and our SOLO Program, which provides one-on-one instruction.

Position Summary: 
The Development Manager will work closely with the Founder/CEO as well as members of the Board of Directors and the External Affairs Committee to plan, execute, and manage a comprehensive fundraising operation for SOUNDS Academy, including annual campaigns, individual major, planned programs, special events, fundraising services and information management.

The Development Manager will be an experienced, results-oriented senior development professional.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the Management of the Annual Fundraising Plan.
  • Execute Fundraising Campaigns and Special Events.
  • Manage donor information and management system.
  • Analyze all data and trends related to fund development and giving (eg., KPIs).
  • Collaborate on proposal writing efforts and grant deadlines with grant writer.
  • Manage volunteers involved in the fundraising process, including but not limited to the Board of Directors and special events committees.
  • Work with External Affairs Committee.
  • Represent SOUNDS Academy in the community, when needed.
  • Assist with media relations related to fundraising.
  • Implement and manage giving operations including donor-tracking systems, data management, meeting preparation, gift processing and post-gift donor management.
  • Manage marketing and communications priorities (eg., create donor communications such as newsletters, social media campaigns, publications such as Annual Reports, and website content as appropriate.
  • Create, track, and report progress on all of the above on a regular basis to the CEO.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Relationships:
The Development Manager works and interfaces with a variety of people including SOUNDS staff and volunteers, members of the Board of Director, employees of funding sources, and the general public.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree; CFRE certification a plus.
  • Minimum three years of related work experience.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written, including public speaking.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and some weekend days, as required.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace while maintaining accuracy.
  • A strong desire to work in a non-profit organization and a commitment to the mission of the SOUNDS Academy.
  • Must be comfortable in social settings and interacting with prospective donors.
  • Experience with computer and development software systems.

Program Manager

Position Summary:
SOUNDS Academy seeks a dynamic, motivated and experienced individual for the position of Program Manager. The Program Manager is responsible for the Day-to-Day program operations, ensuring the success of SOUNDS Academy students, teachers, parents, and community partners. The Program Manager will work with school representatives, teachers, and parents to maximize opportunities and impact in the communities we serve.

Candidates with experience, unique ideas, and strong connections with low income communities will be given preferential consideration. Experience with SalesForce and Bilingual-Spanish speaking is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:
• Manage all SOUNDS Academy Programs
• Oversee day-to-day student, family, and teaching artists’ operations
• Create opportunities for children to be exposed to live music and Instrument Petting Zoos
• Schedule and Execute The Musical Access Program (Live Music Performances, Master Classes, Instrument Petting Zoos)
• Promote, Recruit, and Manage Student Enrollment for SOLO and School Programs
• Create, Schedule, and Manage weekly schedule (times, days, etc.)
• Communicate with school representatives and site managers about class schedules
• Distribute materials and instruments to Schools and Students
• Schedule, attend, and program for Winter and Spring Recitals (parents, teachers, venues, etc.)
• Administer and Schedule end-of-year evaluations for SOLO Program students
• Input and Update new instrument and student data
• Set up staging and sound needs for concerts and events
• Work with the CEO to carry out the SOUNDS Academy mission and vision in order to continuously improve student achievement.
• Provide guidance and support to school representatives, site managers, teachers, and parents
• Create and Update the calendars
• Create policies and procedures for programs
• Maintains and Updates Teacher information in MyMusicStaff Database
• Analyze, evaluate, and report data and trends related to program and curriculum (Teacher Tracking, High School Tracking)
• Report Impact Numbers (Students Impacted, Demographics, Etc.)
• Communicate effectively and constructively with parents, teachers, school representatives, and other key members of SOUNDS Academy community.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

SOUNDS Academy seeks a dynamic, motivated and experienced individual to take on the position of Development Assistant. The Development Assistant is responsible for assisting the Development Manager in Fundraising Activities and Implementing Strategies associated with Marketing and Communications to increase the SOUNDS Academy brand in the community. SOUNDS Academy seeks a professional to work with the CEO to increase our Social Media presence, donor communications, and expand development capabilities of the organization. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering measurable results in the fields of annual fundraising social media, and campaign and reporting design.

Candidates with experience, unique ideas, and strong connections with the communities which SOUNDS Academy serves will be given preferential consideration. Bilingual-Spanish speaking is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure consistent branding on all documents and other communications
  • Develop an Annual Communications Plan & Timeline that Aligns with/Supports the SOUNDS Academy Brand
  • Increase social media targeted presence
  • Review/maximize the website
  • Reflect the Diversity of SOUNDS Academy
  • Represent SOUNDS Academy in the community when needed at fundraising events and meetings
  • Assist in the Development and Management of the Annual Fundraising Plans
  • Assist in the Management of Donor information and Management System
  • Assist in the Management of Relationships with all donors including individuals, corporations, organizations, and government (Donor Communication Matrix)

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in successful non-profit fundraising, ideally within the arts or education
  • Proven track record and achievement in designing, directing, and executing annual campaigns.
  • Proven track record and achievement in marketing, communications, and social media.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations with a record of leadership and accomplishments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with equally strong presentation skills.

Note: Part Time Position; Hourly Range: $15 – $20 per hour (dependent on experience)

Administrative Assistant

Position Summary:
SOUNDS Academy seeks a dynamic, motivated and experienced individual for the position of Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting with the operational needs, ensuring the success of SOUNDS Academy students, teachers, parents, and community partners. The Administrative Assistant will work with the CEO to maximize opportunities and impact in the communities we serve.

Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish will be given preferential consideration.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively and constructively with program registrants (follow up phone calls, emails, etc.).
  • Work with Program Manager to Schedule and Manage lessons, concerts, and program related events.
  • Manage and Maintain student, teacher, and instrument records.
  • Distribute and Manage Bills, Paychecks, Invoices, etc.
  • Document and File meeting notes.
  • Manage, update, and maintain key digital platforms (Google Drive, DocuSign, Canva, etc.).
  • Perform Miscellaneous Errands (Pick Ups, Deliveries, Etc.).
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
