Elliot Yang

Teaching Artist (Cello)

Dr. Elliot Yang is a cellist based in Phoenix, AZ.  He has enjoyed a distinguished career as a concert cellist, touring artist, and teacher.   

Dr. Yang performs regularly with ensembles such as the Phoenix Symphony, Chandler Opera company, and Oh My Ears Festival at Phoenix College.  In recent years, he has toured and performed music in prisons as part of the nonprofit organization, Concerts for Hope.

He has appeared as soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony, Madison Symphony, and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.  His performances have been heard on Wisconsin Public Radio and Television.  Awards include third prize in the 2018 MTNA National Competition Young Artist Division and first prize in the 2018 Tucson Cello Congress Competition.  As a chamber musician, he is a recipient of Peabody Conservatory’s Grace Clagett Ranney Prize.     

Dr. Yang teaches cello at Glendale Community College and Sounds Academy.  Prior to this, he held teaching positions at Peabody Preparatory, Baltimore Symphony Orch Kids, and East Valley School of Music.  His cello students have been accepted into AMEA All-State Orchestra and the highest divisions of Metropolitan Youth Symphony and Phoenix Youth Symphony.  

Yang received his BM from Peabody Conservatory of Music and his MM and DMA from Arizona State University.  He is proud to acknowledge his teachers Amit Peled, Thomas Landschoot, and Stefan Kartman.
