Jordan Nelson is a music educator, arts administrator, and low brass specialist with a background in student programs, ensemble operations, and nonprofit performing arts. An active tuba player, Jordan has spent much of his life connected to music as both a performer and educator. For nearly two decades, he has worked with students across a wide range of music education settings, including school music programs, marching ensembles, private instruction, clinics, and youth performing arts organizations.

Jordan has served in instructional and administrative roles with organizations including Phenom Drum & Bugle Corps, Arizona State University Athletic Bands, The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps, and Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps. He has also served as an adjudicator with the Arizona Marching Band Association for more than ten years. Throughout these experiences, Jordan has supported the day-to-day work that helps music programs thrive, including coordinating staff and rehearsal needs, keeping students and families informed, and working alongside educators and program leadership. His work has given him a strong appreciation for the planning, communication, and care that happen behind the scenes to create meaningful experiences for students.

Jordan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University. His background combines a love of music education with a practical approach to operations, organization, and program support. He believes strong administrative work can directly shape the quality of a student’s experience by helping remove barriers, create consistency, and give educators the support they need to focus on teaching. Jordan is excited to support SOUNDS Academy’s mission of expanding access to music education and creating meaningful opportunities for students throughout the community.
