Thank you for a wonderful year!

Thank you for a wonderful year!

July 31, 2022–As the school year ends, SOUNDS Academy expresses its sincere gratitude to all our supporters including parents, families,  sponsors, nonprofit leaders, arts lovers, and community members who supported its programming in 2021 to 2022.

It was still an interesting time navigating out of the COVID-19 pandemic and hosting in person events and lessons for the first time since the lockdowns. Seeing the SOUNDS Academy community, particularly the students, was a delight. The staff, teachers, and students reached into their tanks of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, and teamwork to deliver another successful and memorable year.

Through the generous support of sponsors and donors, SOUNDS Academy continued to impact over 4,000 students through unique music access opportunities and over 500 students in school programs. SOUNDS Academy had several students graduate this year and announce their acceptance to college. Congratulations on a job well done!

The work of music education has far-reaching impact beyond holding an instrument. It opens pathways in thinking, career opportunities, and confidence, often not captured by the numbers. According to a July 2019 Washington Post article, “the Grammy Music Education Coalition [estimates that] 3.8 million preK-12 students in the United States have no access to music education and its benefits.” This is the exact population SOUNDS Academy serves. So, there is still a lot of work to be done. However, SOUNDS Academy, with the help of its dedicated community of supporters, is up for the challenge. As the year ends, SOUNDS Academy renews its commitment to providing music education and will launch  the new school year, laser-focused on helping to ensure that a child’s zip code does not determine their access to quality music education. SOUNDS Academy invites past supporters and new supporters to join in for the ride.
