Mr. Kim Cellobration 2020
The Annual Cellobration was a daylong virtual event, where Arizona cellists of all levels and experiences came together to learn and play music. Students bonded and learned various techniques and new pieces. Participants included school aged children, professional cellists, and the ASU Cello Devils.
Mr. Kim participated in the Cellobration Cello Competition, receiving Third Place in the junior division for 7th – 8th grade students. He learned about the competition through his private teacher, Ms. Jamie Kellogg. She felt that it would be a great opportunity for him and that Mr. Kim would benefit from participating in the competition.
When asked “How did it feel to prepare and participate for this competition?”, Mr. Kim replied “Although I only had a short time to prepare, I was very excited and pleased with how well I did. Receiving this award has given me the confidence to participate in other competitions. I will be trying again in January 2021. I will have enough time to practice and prepare in advance for this one. I know that if I work hard I can achieve anything, I just need to put the work in.”
Mr. Johnson and the SOUNDS Academy Family are very proud of Mr. Kim! The work that he has put into learning and developing as a young man is simply amazing. He has accomplished an amazing milestone in his development as a young artist.
His mother believes that “It is a blessing that Abraham received this award because he worked hard, practicing the piece for more than two hours every day. The support of SOUNDS Academy and his teacher, Ms. Kellogg with her amazing love, passion, and dedication for teaching also helped him to get this special honor.”
#ClapClap to Ms. Jaime and Mr. Kim for this great achievement!
