Emma Hill

Teaching Artist (Strings)

Emma Hill has taught violin for nine years, maintaining large private studios and working with students of all ages in Tennessee and California. She has also been on staff at several summer music camps for kids of various ages and levels. She began her formal career training in music education, though her specialty eventually shifted to private teaching and she earned a degree in music from Union University. In California, Emma earned her master’s in violin performance from Cal State Fullerton, where she stayed for further post-graduate violin studies with Dr. Ernest Salem. During this time, she coached local high school string orchestras while maintaining her own education and studio. Emma also served as the principal second violinist in the Shekinah Chamber Orchestra of Orange County, California and has continued to maintain an active schedule performing in local symphonies, pit orchestras, and chamber ensembles.

Emma currently studies violin with Dr. Katie McLin at Arizona State University where she is working toward a doctorate in violin performance and a teaching certificate in music theory pedagogy. She is Dr. McLin’s teaching assistant, teaching undergraduate violinists who are pursuing music minors or Music Learning and Teaching at ASU.
